Business Education Session: Navigating Sponsorship Requests

This knowledge workshop helps Burlington Chamber members better understand how to approach, evaluate, and structure sponsorship relationships from both sides of the table. Participants will learn how to move beyond transactional asks toward aligned, mutually beneficial partnerships that create real value for businesses and sustainable support for nonprofits.

Designed for:
  • Businesses that receive frequent sponsorship requests
  • Nonprofits seeking sponsorship support
  • Chamber members who play both roles

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
  • Describe the value exchange behind sponsorships by identifying what nonprofits need, what businesses seek, and where shared value is created. Identify common sponsorship mistakes that unintentionally create frustration or misalignment - and name practical alternatives that support clearer communication.
  • Apply a relationship-based lens to sponsorship conversations by practicing language and approaches that move beyond one-time transactions.
  • Use a simple sponsorship checklist to evaluate fit, set expectations, and strengthen sponsorship relationships moving forward.
