Dementia Caregiver’s Support Group

Creekside Continuing Care Community will host an open Dementia Caregiver’s Support Group led by Alzheimer’s Society representative, Bernadet DeJonge, M.A. Beginning in January the group will meet twice a month on Fridays, from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm; dates include January 12 & 19; February 9 & 23; March 9 & 23; April 6 & 20; May 4 & 18. This informal support group is free and open to all. Attendees can pre-register by calling Creekside at 360/755-5550. Families who care for or live with persons suffering from memory loss or dementia symptoms are welcome to attend. Creekside is located at 400 Gilkey Road, Burlington, Washington.

Topics covered will include causes and types of dementia, behavioral symptoms, problems arising in daily care, finding medical help, coping with role changes and family conflict, as well as support and understanding for those most affected by the care giving responsibilities.
