Share your feedback on sales tax changes

The Department of Revenue is hosting a series of online listening sessions
to hear directly from businesses and interested parties about significant
changes to Washington’s sales tax law under ESSB 5814.

Can’t attend? Submit your feedback online now through Aug. 1, 11:59 pm.

Starting Oct. 1, 2025, sales tax will apply to the following:

  • Information technology services.
  • Custom website development services.
  • Investigation, security, and armored car services.
  • Temporary staffing services.
  • Advertising services.
  • Live presentations.
  • Sales of custom software and customization of prewritten software.
  • Modification of digital automated services (DAS) exclusions.

About the listening sessions

Each listening session is 1-hour long and will focus on a particular topic or industry
(see schedule below). These sessions are your opportunity to ask questions, raise
concerns, and help shape the guidance we provide. We're especially seeking:

  • Concerns or issues that may require additional guidance.
  • Suggested interpretations or approaches to addressing those concerns.
  • Feedback on the issues we’ve already identified.
